Watching my mother in her happy place of creating, is a fond memory of mine. I value the fact that she would not only involve me in her happy place but show a keen interest in teaching me the skills that she had taught herself as an artist. During these times, she taught me, not only technical skills, but life skills of persistence, humility, reflection, and a desire to always do better.
Over the years I have used the skills that she taught me, when creating art in my teaching career, in business, for community groups and when commissioned for specific projects. These have included works like large billboards and murals, musical sets and backdrops, images on clothing and many, many canvas paintings particularly of Australian wildlife.
My recent exploration has been to combine acrylic brush and pen work on fluid art. The fluid art adds a new dimension of movement. I enjoy seeing animals come to life using this method.
I create a pour painting, then look at the patterns and colours to see what image appears in the pour. I then embellish the pour with brush and pen work to draw out the subject of the painting. This to me is a picture of life, a harmonious synergy of order and chaos.
Teaching children gives me great joy but immersing myself in the creating of an Artwork gives me another type of joy and sense of release. Painting gives me an outlet that is energising, spiritual and good for my soul. The word, ‘Artspirations’ has come from my heart to inspire others with the joy of life, through my art.
I invite you to join me on my journey of exploration. All of my designs are available in various sizes of high-quality gloss prints. Take a look at my works online and purchase a print to enjoy in your own space.
